John Bates

Chief Executive Officer

John Bates is a founding member and the Chief Executive Officer of Radial Power, a company he helped establish in 2022. With a robust background in the energy sector, John has been instrumental in driving the company’s vision and growth.

Before founding Radial Power, John was a founding partner at Starmex Energy, a utility-scale developer in Mexico sponsored by Starwood Energy. At Starmex Energy, he played a key role in navigating the country’s Energy Reform. His extensive experience also includes senior positions at Sunnova Energy, NRG Energy, and TXU/Luminant.

At Sunnova Energy, John served as the Senior Vice President of Operations, where he was part of the executive team responsible for sales, channel partner development, product development, supply chain, and operations. During his 13-year tenure at NRG Energy, he held several executive positions, including Executive Vice President of NRG Solar, Chief Operating Officer of their nuclear development company with Toshiba, and Senior Vice President of the Development Engineering, Procurement, and Construction team. Additionally, he was the Vice President of Development for TXU Energy during its successful turnaround period.

John’s career in the energy industry spans senior operational and commercial roles. He began his career at Chevron Corporation, where he spent the initial 10 years in various roles in shipping, supply, and trading.

John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and an MBA from the Cullen School of Business at the University of Houston.

Ed Kent

Chief Operating Officer

Ed Kent is a business executive and mechanical engineer with over thirty-six years of experience in the Marine and Power/Energy industry. Ed has a consistent record of achieving substantial improvements in operations metrics and overall P&L results on diverse energy projects.

He has strengths in operations management, leadership, business strategy, contract negotiation and management, maintenance and repair, business development, and asset optimization.

Ed joined East West Power in 2010 as Senior VP of Operations, then held a position as Executive President, and eventually he was appointed as President & CEO, a position he held from 2017 to 2023, where he was responsible for all business unit operations.

Prior to East West Power, he was Senior VP of Operations at Marubeni Sustainable Energy Inc., there he was entrusted with being the company’s key representative on every operating project.

He has also worked for DG Energy Solutions, Pantellos Group, Chevron, MAN and Verde Energy. Ed holds a B.S. Degree in Marine Engineering from The United States Merchant Marine Academy. He also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed as Chief Engineer and was honorably discharged from the US Naval Reserves.

Michell Graham

Chief Development Officer

Michell Graham is the Chief Commercial Officer at Radial Power, bringing over 20 years of experience in operational leadership, business transformation, and strategic growth more than 12 of those years in the energy sector.

Before joining Radial Power, Michell served as Senior Vice President of Service and Energy Operations at Sunnova Energy. In that role, she led national operations and maintenance, established a centralized command center, and launched the company’s virtual power plant program. She also played a key role in expanding Sunnova’s commercial and industrial (C&I) segment and led the company’s international expansion into Europe.

Earlier in her career, Michell held leadership roles across the energy, storage, and manufacturing sectors, including positions at LBC Tank Terminals, HCL Technologies, Therma-Tru, Capgemini Energy, and Gexa Energy.

Michell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management from Liberty University and an MBA from Texas A&M University.

Matthew Trauber

Chief Financial Officer

Matthew Trauber brings over 12 years of experience in the energy sector, with a background spanning project evaluation, underwriting & investing, capital markets, and corporate finance.

Before joining Radial, Matthew spent eight years at Blackstone Credit on the Energy and Sustainable Resources teams, where he helped deploy over $8 billion across the E&P, midstream, and renewable energy sectors. Earlier in his career, he held roles in engineering, operations, and economic evaluation at Marathon Oil.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

Jeff Keeler

Chief Legal Officer

Jeff Keeler is a seasoned executive and attorney in the renewable energy industry, with nearly 30 years of experience in both legal and commercial capacities.

Jeff oversees all legal affairs as Radial Power’s Chief Legal Officer, serving as counsel and a senior strategic advisor for all of Radial’s businesses, as well as Corporate Secretary managing governance and compliance matters. Jeff is a veteran renewable energy industry executive and entrepreneur, with significant experience in both legal and commercial roles. Jeff’s wide range of experience includes leadership positions at companies from large global corporations such as Iberdrola Renewables, to small and mid-sized energy companies, to start-ups he founded in energy and real estate, to his own law practice supporting notable renewable energy industry clients. Jeff has dedicated most of his career to the advancement of clean energy and sustainability and has been involved in the development of over 7,500 megawatts of renewable power generation.

Jeff holds a B.A. degree in political science from Drew University and a law degree with a certificate in public policy from Catholic University Law School and has been admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut.

Hector De La Garza

Chief Strategy Officer

Héctor De La Garza is a founding member and the Chief Strategy Officer of Radial Power, a company he helped establish in 2022. Héctor has over 8 years of experience in the Energy and Power industry in the E&P, midstream and power generation segments with functional focus in finance, M&A and strategy.

Previously he was a founding partner at Starmex Energy, a utility-scale developer in Mexico sponsored by Starwood Energy. Hector also served as V.P. of Finance and Business Development in Prana Power (Mexican IPP) in which he was responsible for the acquisition and financing of a 108MW of solar PV plant and the acquisition and development of additional 200MW. Additionally, he was responsible for the formation of a Distributed Generation business which deployed US$10MM+ in onsite C&I systems in Mexico.

Prior to Prana, he was Senior Associate for Artha Capital where he participated in the deployment of the first energy and infrastructure fund raised by Artha. Previously, he participated in Strategy and Operations at Schlumberger and Equity research at Credit Suisse.

Héctor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with concentration in finance from ITAM in Mexico City where he graduated top 5% of his class.

Gerritt L. Ewing, JR.

SVP Treasurer

Gerritt has over 40 years of domestic and international energy experience in utility scale power and renewable energy projects. He has served in senior management positions demonstrating expertise in Corporate and Project finance, Treasury functions, Insurance programs and start-up companies.

Gerritt was one of the Founders and CFO/Treasurer of Sunnova International, a retail solar company now trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NOVA). Prior to this, he served as CFO of Tessera Solar, a start-up company developing and financing power projects using the Stirling energy technology. Mr. Ewing also served as Assistant Treasurer at TXU Energy in Dallas, TX, working on general corporate finance matters for the regulated and unregulated businesses. Prior to this, Gerritt served as Vice President of Entergy Corporation in the unregulated subsidiary developing and financing renewable energy Projects. In this role he served 4 years in Entergy’s London Office and closed financing on about $2.0 billion in project financings. Prior to these roles, Mr. Ewing worked for 15 years in corporate banking in the energy sector for Security Pacific (now BofA) and Marine Midland Bank (now Hong Kong Shanghai Bank).

Mr. Ewing holds a B.A. Degree in Economics from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and a Master’s Degree in Financial Management from the Pace Graduate School in New York, New York.

Diego Martinez

Vice President of Development Partnerships and M&A

Diego has over 9 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sector with a functional focus in economic and policy analysis, financial structuring, underwriting, and partnerships. His experience spans distributed generation, utility-scale generation (renewable and conventional), and infrastructure, supporting investment execution in evolving regulatory environments.

Diego currently leads development partnerships and M&A at Radial Power. He oversees internal processes and cross-functional teams, and is responsible for advancing projects to Investment Committee, approving transaction structures, and defining underwriting, market, and policy standards. He participates in Radial’s Pricing Committee and supports the Investment Committee, contributing to investment proposals since the firm’s inception.

Prior to Radial, he served as Senior Associate at Prana Power (a private equity-backed IPP) and Artha Capital. He led due diligence efforts across legal, permitting, commercial, and stakeholder workstreams, supporting over $300M in investment opportunities, including the acquisition of a 108 MW solar plant, the development of 200 MW, and the launch of a C&I platform in Mexico.

Diego holds a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from ITAM in Mexico City, where he completed extensive coursework in economics and quantitative methods. He also studied Private Equity and Project Finance at Université Paris Dauphine in France.

Allyson Crawford

Sr. Director, Project Dev. and Transformation

Allyson brings a decade of experience in the renewable energy industry, with deep expertise in business analytics, process transformation, and leading high-performing back-office operations teams.

Director, Development

Michael has over 10 years of experience in the energy sector, with a focus on operations, asset management, and project development.

Prior to joining Radial Power, he was a Nuclear Reactor Servicing Engineer for SSBNs and SSGNs at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), where he was responsible for the maintenance, refueling, and servicing of nuclear reactor systems aboard ballistic missile submarines. Then, he served a brief tenure as the sole Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Port Engineer for the USS Laboon (DDG-58).

Michael currently leads the Development team at Radial and plays a key role in facilitating communication with existing customers, ensuring alignment between project development and client objectives.

Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He also holds a U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Assistant Engineer’s license for unlimited horsepower Steam, Gas Turbine, and Diesel propulsion plants, and currently serves as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Reserve.

Prior to his MBA, he worked across multiple real estate and infrastructure funds, Artha Capital, HLR, and Mexico Retail Properties, in Mexico. As part of his career, Ricky has been responsible for the acquisition and sale of real estate portfolios, structuring and raising in real estate, infrastructure, and energy funds, and investing in land and hospitality development.

Mac Anderson-Cooper

Senior Bess Engineer

Mac Anderson-Cooper has over 10 years of experience in project management and team leadership across a variety of industries, including 3 years of battery storage in New York City.

Prior to Radial Power, Mac worked as the Senior Coordinator of Development, Engineering and Construction at NineDot Energy. While there, they supported a BESS project pipeline of 350+ MW in various stages of development in NYC from origination through operations, with special focus on community engagement. They secured $21M in NYSERDA funding for a portfolio of 12 BESS projects. Additionally, they were a founding member of NineDot’s DEIB taskforce and helped NineDot win NY-BEST’s inaugural Inclusive Energy Storage Workforce Award. Their primary focus in the battery sector is bringing community engagement and environmental justice to the forefront of BESS development.

Mac received their BA in Theatre and Spanish from Northwestern University, and is an international theatre director, filmmaker and producer.
